Fall is here. Classes are starting (or about to). And if you’re reading this feeling like your marketing didn’t quite go the way you hoped, you are not alone.
Maybe you meant to post more consistently on social media. Maybe you planned to send a few more emails to your list. Maybe enrollment is a little lower than you were hoping for, and you’re not sure what to do about it now that the season is basically here.
Here’s the good news: it’s not too late.
Registration stays open for many studios well into the fall season. That means there are still families out there looking for a dance class for their child, and you still have time to reach them.
This post is your quick reset plan. You don’t need to overhaul your entire marketing strategy. You just need to focus on a few simple actions that can actually make a difference right now.
Let’s get into it!
First, Give Yourself A Break
Before we talk about what to do next, let’s just acknowledge something. Running a dance studio is a lot. You’re managing staff, handling parents, ordering costumes, keeping up with admin and likely teaching, plus trying to market your studio on top of all of it.
If your fall marketing didn’t go exactly as planned, that doesn’t mean you failed. It means you’re a busy studio owner doing the best you can.
The goal right now isn’t to do everything. It’s to do a few things well, and to do them quickly.
Six Things You Can Do Right Now To Bring In More Students
Here are some realistic, low-pressure actions you can take this week to boost your fall enrollment. Pick the ones that feel most doable, and start there.
1. Send One Warm, Honest Email to Your List
If you have an email list – for your dance families and/or for prospects who have signed up for your newsletter – this is the time to use it.
You don’t need a fancy campaign. Just write a friendly, conversational email that lets people know fall classes are starting, registration is still open, and you’d love to have them join you.
Keep it short. Be warm. Include a clear link to register or get more information.
One email, sent today, can bring in students you haven’t thought about in months and prospects who don’t realize it’s time to enroll.
2. Post on Social Media With a Simple, Clear Invitation
This doesn’t need to be a beautifully designed graphic or a polished video (though those are great if you have them). A genuine, friendly post from you is enough.
Tell your followers that classes are starting, share what you’re offering this fall, and make it easy for interested families to take the next step. Include a link to your registration page, or tell them exactly how to reach you.
A straightforward “classes are starting soon, here’s how to join us” post is more effective than you might think.
3. Personally Reach Out to Past Students Who Haven’t Re-Enrolled
Think about the students who danced with you last year but haven’t signed up yet this fall. A short, personal message can go a long way.
This doesn’t have to be formal. A quick text or email that says something like, “We’d love to have [name] back this season, registration is still open,” feels personal and caring, not pushy. And for many families, it’s exactly the gentle nudge they needed.
4. Ask Your Current Families to Spread the Word
Word-of-mouth is one of the most powerful tools you have, and it costs you nothing.
Let your current dance families know that you’re still accepting registrations for fall. Ask them to share your studio with a friend who might be interested. You can do this in person, in a group text or email, or through a quick post in your parent Facebook group if you have one.
People who already love your studio are happy to help. They just need to be asked.
5. Check Your Website Registration Information
This one takes only a few minutes and is easy to overlook.
Visit your own website as if you were a new parent looking for information. Is it clear that registration is open? Is it easy to find? Are your class schedule, pricing, and how-to-register steps all up to date?
If anything is confusing or out of date, fix it now. A parent who visits your site and can’t find what they need may simply move on.
6. Take a Fresh Look at Your Google Business Profile
When a parent searches for dance classes in your area, your Google Business Profile is often one of the first things they see. Make sure it’s working for you.
Check that your hours, phone number, and website link are current. If you haven’t already, add a post announcing your fall classes. Google Business Profile posts are a simple, free way to show up in local search results, and they take only a few minutes to create.
You Don’t Have To Do ALL Of This
Truly. If this list feels like a lot, just pick one or two items and start there.
Sending one email is better than sending none. Posting once on social media is better than waiting until everything feels perfect. Reaching out to three past students is better than not reaching out at all.
Progress matters more than perfection, especially right now when the season is just getting started.
Looking Ahead
Once the fall rush settles down a bit, it’s worth taking a step back and thinking about how you want to approach your marketing going forward. Not with guilt about what didn’t happen this season, but with a realistic, sustainable plan for what comes next.
I’ll be sharing more on that soon. (Spoiler: “good enough” marketing is more powerful than you might think, and it’s more achievable than you might expect.)
For now, focus on the actions above. Your next new student might be just one email or one social media post away.
Best wishes to you and your studio!
Stacey
